Scary Moments

For those of you who know me well, you know I have really bad food allergies. I was hoping not to pass this onto my kiddos... Well today I decided for lunch I would mush up some left over lasagna for Evan to try, he really hasn't had much but fruits, veggies, and baby oatmeal. Well after about 5 tiny little bites his tiny little top lip swelled up very quickly. I quickly whipped out my cell phone and called 911- I don't mess around with food allergies- The EMT's came and checked to make sure he didn't have any more symptoms or an increase in the ones he had. He was okay, but we took him to the ER and they gave him some medicine and watched him for about an hour. We have Evan's well check soon so we will discuss all the fun allergy testing stuff with the doctor then, until- we will stick to what we know does work. It's crazy because while of this happened I was really calm, even the 911 person noted that- now I'm starting to feel a little shaky about the whole episode. How do people have lots of kids? Having 2 gives me anxiety, I worry about them so much sometimes.

The Playroom

Okay before you get all crazy and start saying, "Holy Cow! I didnt' know Beth was so artistic." Let me correct you and say... I'm not. This was so easy, thanks to my sister Miriam. She had done some fun stuff like this in her playroom and what she did was she brought home her overhead projector (she's a teacher) and she xerox copied coloring book pages traced them on her wall using the projector and then colored them in using paint pens. So super easy and way fun.
One funny story about this project. About a day or so after I had started this project Christian came and say "Mommy come!" he was so excited to show me something, he took me into Evan's room and show me that he had been coloring on the wall with a pen (only black, thank goodness!) I wasn't so sure how to react because he was so proud of what he had done. I said "Oh Buddy, only Mommies can color on walls" Talk about feelings of GUILT! I felt so hypocritical. But he listened and has never colored on a wall since, thanks for understanding buddy.

What?! What?! Christian Sharing... Never!

For those of you who have come to our house to play, you know that Christian is pretty good about sharing his toys, EXCEPT for "The Truck." This toy is off limits, over his dead body, don't even look at it, very important to Christian. So imagine my surprise when my sister Katie was over the other day she put Evan on the truck to see what he would do and of course that very second Christian over and said "No! That's mines!!!" Surprisingly he did not shove Evan off but just jumped right on it and took off with Evan. Of course Evan thought this was super awesome and started to giggle and Christian liked it too. It was refreshing to say the least since Christian is in the mode where any toy Evan even touches Christian immediately takes it away. There is hope!

Take Two

For those who have babies who want to be held while you are getting ready I propose to you... the sink. I did this with Christian when he was a baby too- it works like a charm. They are more then happy to hang out in the sink and look at you in the mirror while you blow dry your hair and put your make-up on. Isn't he super cute!

New Vocab

Mompockets

Definition: When one reaches into a pocket and finds the following, tissues fresh and used *sick!* candy wrappers with possible half eaten candy still in them, and sometimes and occasional toy-depending on the pocket and where it is located. If you are lucky sometimes there will be chap stick or lip gloss reminiscent of the "girlfriend pocket" days which are now long gone.

A Little Spoiling

So me and Dan have been thinking about getting Christian a bean bag chair to watch movies and just because he always stands in front of the TV when he watches (I think that's some rule each little kid obeys). Anyway, we randomly went into this store because they were having a 50% off sale and saw this cute little couch... it was 50 bucks and Christian was instantly in love. We went to lunch to think about it and came back and got it. We don't normally by our kids things when it's not their birthday's or Christmas for two reasons, don't want to spoil them too much and... we're poor :) Anyway, I think it was worth it, they have both had so much fun with it since we got it.

Cute little Evan boy, he is such a big boy. Christian was wearing those overalls at one! Christian didn't want to take his picture alone on the couch so that's why I don't have one of just him.

Like Father, Like Son

So me and Dan were in the kitchen talking and he was leaning against the door drinking juice. Christian was puttering around with his cup when he saw Dan and he stopped what he was doing walked over to the door and tried to lean against the door, cross his legs, and drink juice. With a little help he was able to get his legs crossed. He would keep looking up at Dan to make sure he was doing everything right. It was so cute.
