Happy Anniversary
This month we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. Looking back on our wedding I begin to realize how crazy we were to have an out door reception in the middle of JULY! Good thing both our families were good sports about it and went the distance with us that day :)
Greg and Erika bravely watched our kids (as you all know Evan can be a little scary to watch with all the food allergies) and we were able to slip away for a night and day- I love my kids, but it was SO AWESOME to just be the two of us again. We both slept in until 10 and then lounged around a bit, and headed off to the Manti Temple for a session. Man, if you haven't been to the Manti temple you need to because it's quite the experience (live sessions) and just absolutely gorgeous! It was a really nice and relaxing, and even though we would have loved more days to ourselves, we headed back to reality. Can't wait till we can find another night or two to ourselves again. Happy Anniversary Babe, sure love you.

I'm Fire Truck Man!
Christian came up to us the other day wearing a swim diaper on his head declaring that he was "Fire Truck Man!" What??? Me and Dan could not stop giggling.
Here is Christian offering a "hat" for Daddy to wear.
Of course Evan loves doing whatever Christian is doing so he was all about the fire truck man hat.
The completed ensemble :) Love this crazy kid!

Behold! Our Park :)
My parents royally spoiled they boys and bought a "park" aka a play set for our back yard. It has been patiently waiting in their garage while our grass grew enough to set it up. Over the July 4th weekend we decided everything was ready and Dan set out on the enormous task.
Here's Dan opening all the boxes and labeling everything! He ended up staying up until 2:00 in the morning, I think it took him about 4 hours of just labeling.
The next morning- all the boards and screws labeled and out on the deck ready to be assembled.
Here's are awesome Daddy at 7:30 in the morning getting ready to start :)
Woo-hoo first piece, of many, assembled!
The beginnings of the swing set!
Thankfully my Dad was able to come over and help or else we wouldn't have been able to do it all ourselves.
Is that the beginning of structure, I think so!
Aren't the little windows cute!
The men hard at work in the heat, I tried to keep them supplied with lots of fluid and caffeine :)
Oh so close!
Once they got the slide up there was no stopping Christian and Evan they had to try it out.
Ta-Da! The finished project, isn't it fun!
Evan's shirt says, "My Dad is the Man" and he really is, I think it took about 15 hours total to put this baby together!
When Christian was little he was not much of a swinger, but he loves it now!
We spend at least an hour a day on this thing, we're so grateful for this wonderful present. Thanks Mom and Dad!

An Imperfect Moment
Remember that post back in June about the cabin and the Duckwitz family reunion? Well I have a story attached to the getting-ready-for-that-trip that I think you may find amusing.
Everyone knows how crazy it is to get ready for a trip especially when you have kids. I was having an especially crazy day and my visiting teachers were due to visit that morning. I was hurrying back from a store to meet them and just barely made it. I invited them in and the boys were begging to go ride trucks out on the deck, so I took them out while my v.t.'s waited in the living room. I got the boys settled out on the deck, Christian kept bumping his truck he was riding into Evan's truck because it made Evan giggle. The only problem is it kept knocking Evan's truck back a little bit each time. I told Christian stop doing that you are going to knock him down the stairs. And being in the rush I was, went back to the v.t.'s Well about 30 seconds later I hear a huge crash down the stairs and Evan starts to cry, in my panic I throw my hands up in the air and scream "OH SH--!!!!", yes- right in from of the v.t.'s. I run to the back porch and find Evan still on his truck laying side ways at the bottom of the stairs. I practically jumped down the stairs grabbed the kid and started searching every part of him to make sure he wasn't severely hurt. We got lucky, and the only damage was a few scraps on his neck, shoulder, and cheek- not even a goose bump on his head! After I knew he was okay I realized that I just swore in front of my v.t.'s... I was mortified! Who does that, oh wait... apparently I do! I went up the stairs and promptly put Christian into time out walked into the living room and said, "He's okay, sorry for the swears." The End.

Happy 4th!
Happy 4th of July! We had great holiday with lots of sun, fun, and family. So grateful for the people who serve our country daily, as this 4th of July approached I was reminded of how awesome our country is as I tried to explain to Christian what the 4th of July was about. I hope you had great one too!
*Sometimes I forget to load my pictures the right way and I am too lazy to delete them and start over again, so you get this first photo out of order :)
The last couple of years we go to see the PG fireworks, they put on a great show and we usually watch them with my sister Miriam and her family. But this year she was invited to a bbq so we had to fend for ourselves. We realized that Jon and Melissa bought a house in PG just about a year ago, so we roped them into going with us. And boy did we get a show! A couple fireworks flew out into the audience and we were all a little worried but we stuck threw till the end and had a great time.
Jon holding Seth, Melissa with Korver, Ethan, Dan, Me, Evan, and Christian. Love these guys!
Ever since I blew up firework up in my face my family started the tradition of shooting rockets off during the day- no fire involved=less anxiety for everyone. We have a great time each year, and the weather was perfect!
Couldn't get a good picture of all of us looking at the camera, oh well!
Silly Evan Boy
My crazy brother Davy getting ready to launch a rocket
The little kids love coming to the rocket launch because they get to chase after the rockets when they are headed back to earth
Here's my Daddy getting a rocket ready to launch
Dan and Christian already starting on the many many calories we consumed that day
Evan and my sister Kaite and Mirima

Duckwitz Family Reunion
Oh if I could sum up the Duckwitz Family Reunion in two words it would be, Fun Chaos! We had a lot of people and kids and it was crazy but we had a great time together. The main purpose we went up there to get some chores done on the cabin, which we did, and of course I didn't get any pics of that, and the other was to have our whole family together which really hasn't happened for a very long time. It felt like we needed 2 Saturday's in a row, one to get all the chores done and the other to goof around. But we did get a little bit of both.
Of course what would a cabin trip be like without lots and lots of 4-wheeler rides! We did have a really big scare. Nathan was learning how to drive the 4-wheeler and rolled it! Tammy was on the back and Heidi too, Heidi had strapped herself in so she actually got stuck with the 4-wheeler on top of her. She was complaining about neck pain and wrist pain. After a trip to the ER we were lucky that she had a sprained wrist and some cuts, but that was it! But it was pretty scary for all of us.
Me and my sis-in-law Melissa, I took her out and taught her how to drive the 4-wheeler :)
There was no shortage on little boys this trip which is a nice change for us since most of our neighborhood is girls (we love them and all but some times you need some boy time). There was also plenty of dirty, rocks, bugs, and lizards to chase around. Caleb actually caught a couple.
And we did eat, and eat, and eat! It was always a big production no matter what we were having because there were so many of us.
Lots of helpers in the kitchen helped keep the Mommy Duckwitz sane.
After the many hours of playing in the dirt the little ones were beyond dirty! So we piled them into the bath tub together- It took 3 tub fulls to get all of them in and out and clean. Our they adorable.
All in all, very fun and crazy- love this family of ours.

Firework Cars Race
You know how anti-climatic it is when you spend a whole bunch of money on little fireworks just to light one or two off at at time...well we discovered that it's a lot funner to strap them onto a car and race them in the parking lot instead. Here are some pics of the festivities.
This was our car, next year it will be even better!
