Guilty as Charged

A few nights ago, Christian had just woken up right before dinner so he really wasn't hungry when we sat down to eat. When this happens we leave his food on the table and when he's hungry we tell him that that's what's for dinner, because he often tries to eat cereal or toast for dinner. We have really been sticking to our guns to kind of break him of the habit so if he doesn't eat dinner than he doesn't get anything else (I know it's mean, but it works). Anyway, Christian knew we had hot dogs in the fridge and kept saying I want one I want one, and we of course said no, you need to eat your dinner. I sat down to give Evan some milk before bed and Dan was working on the computer and I realized I hadn't seen Christian in a little bit. I told Dan to go look for him. He found him, he had locked himself in the bathroom and was eating a cold hot dog (oh sick!). When Dan opened the door Christian tried to quickly shove the half eaten hot dog back into the package. He told Christian to go and show mom what he had done. At this point I thought it had something to do with the toilet paper. He came out with his head down holding out a half eat hot dog and I just started to laugh. I said let the poor kid eat the hot dog! It was hilarious. I guess sometimes you really do just need a hot dog :)

Four Wheelin' Fun and the Cabin

All winter long we have been sitting and thinking of the beautiful cabin my in-laws built that we could not get to because of the snow. There had been much debate about buying a four wheeler or a snowmobile but they did not have the funds. Come tax time... they got a four wheeler. I have never seen my husband so giddy. He was so funny, we went over right after work the day they got it and rode it around the neighborhood a dozen or so times. The other person probably as equally giddy as Dan was Christian. He made sure that he was on that four wheeler every time someone went out on it.




Well now that we had the four wheeler Dan wanted to see if we could actually make it up to the cabin. We tentatively planned a trip that weekend. When we got there we parked in the lower parking lot and Dan took the four wheeler first to see if he could make it up one of the steeper hills. About 15 minutes later he came back and said that the roads up to the cabin were great but that we would need to make a pathway up the driveway to the cabin. It was REALLY deep. Dan forged a pathway by just stomping down the snow that night. Dan's parents called us to see if we had made it and then they decided to come too. The next morning he and his Dad got ambitious and decided to dig a pathway for the four wheeler. It took most of the day with some breaks but they did it! We had a lot of fun.

Well now that it is officially Spring Dan and I have realized that we can no longer ignore the yard, or lack there of, so after dinner Dan has been going outside and working. The poor tree out back just couldn't seem to come back to life, so we decided to take it down and we will get a new one to go in it's place. Of course Dan got to use all the fun tools to take it down, the chainsaw and his Dad's new four wheeler to yank the stump out. Here is the result of his labors so far, more to come....

An Engineer or Inventor in the making???

My sister Miriam gave us some hand-me-down tinker toys a few months ago (man I love hand-me-downs, they are the best!) Anyway, Christian is just discovering them and I think he's in love. Christian is the kind of kid who will sit at the kitchen table and take a part and put back together a flashlight or a pen over and over again. So these toys really are right down his alley. The other day he came to me and said "Mom I want to play with Tinkerbell toys." - HUH?- I told him I did not understand and he took me to the bag that had the tinker toys in them and then I understood. I had to explain to him that they are not called Tinkerbell toys but Tinker toys. Can you tell that he has a lot of girl cousins and friends :)

Christian is starting to realize now that Evan is bigger and is starting to walk that he might be able to work him into his daily schemes. My parents got Evan a truck to ride for his 1st birthday, but of course he hasn't quite got the hang of pushing himself on it. Christian wanted to ride trucks so badly with Evan one day but was getting frustrated because Evan couldn't follow him on his truck. I explained to him that Evan is still learning how to push himself. After that talk Christian went to get the diaper bag. He wrapped it around both trucks got Evan on his truck and hoped on his and dragged him around the house for a while. Evan thought it was great. What fun brothers.

Instant Messaging Dad

So Dan and I throughout the day will instant message each other while he is at work. Both the boys giggle when Dan sends the LOL smiley face that giggles. Christian after close observation and a little help has learned how to IM Dan he especially loves selecting smiley faces that make noises when you send them. Well now when I am IM'ing Dan, Christian says he wants a turn. He takes this very seriously and will sit and type to Dan like I do. Dan is cute because he will right back funny things like "Oh really, that all happened" or "I sure miss you buddy." It's really quite sweet. Occasionally I will hear him giggling when Dan sends him smiley faces back. It's so cute.

This is Just Cute

This is just a very funny & cute video of Evan. He does this when he gets really excited or he is tired and loopy, or all of the above. Of course me and Dan sound like idiots in the background trying to get him to be excited- so just do me a favor and focus on how funny the kid is. Hope you enjoy :)

Boy + Blankie = Bliss

Evan is a "Linus" when it comes to his blankie. This kid has a serious love affair. Every time he gets up he holds his arms for you to get him out of the crib and right before you pull him out he makes sure to grab his blankie. He then proceeds to bite and smother his face in it while, most of the time, giggling and cooing. Once you get him started playing with toys he will leave it... for a while. It is not a rare occasion to walk in to the living room because things sound "too quiet" and find this kid just cuddling the heck out of his blankie. He especially loves to cuddle with his blankie while laying on your lap or in your arms. Evan really is just a snuggler all together. I love it of course, what mom or dad wouldn't?

Season Changes

I love living in Utah for a lot of different reasons, one of them is for the season changes. Of course I have never lived anywhere outside of Utah (yes I know I am very cultured- j/k) but I'm pretty sure I couldn't live somewhere where the season changes weren't as drastic as Utah. There's just something about it- it's like every time the season changes you make mini "new year's" resolutions. I also have a lot of nostalgia wash over me every time a season changes. Fall reminds of school starting and all the excitement and stress involved. Winter reminds me of getting ready for concerts and of course, when me and Dan hooked up- lots of fun memories there. Spring is when my birthday is and when Christian was born- I remember all those soon-to-be-a-new-mommy jitters and excitement. And summer reminds me of family, we spend a lot of time with both of our families during the summer. I just love season changes! Along those lines, don't you think it's funny that when we go from fall to winter 40 degrees is so freakin' cold, but when we go from winter to spring, 40 degrees is so nice and everyone is outside with short sleeves- how funny we all are. A Little Update

Well I woke up to all the new snow this morning and thought it was beautiful but I was...sad. Oh March you little teasing month you, one day you are nice and warm and everyone is playing outside, the next day there is snow. We have had quite the winter and I am ready for spring. With our last doctor's visit Evan had gained weight but had another ear infection Christian was not breathing well and we almost were admitted to the hospital but they were able to get his oxygen levels back up. They think he may have the beginnings of asthma. And with how off and on sick the two of them have been the doctor told me he did not want me to take them anywhere- grocery store, church, playgroup,etc- until the end of MARCH. We are doing our best to follow the rule, but it's hard to keep a very social kid inside especially when he is feeling great. On a side not, I have to admit that the last month or so I have been feeling pretty sorry for myself about how my boys have been doing. But as I have been thinking about everything I find myself feeling grateful that, even though food allergy's and asthma are scary, I have things in my house that will help me help them if it comes to that. They do not have a sickness or condition which keeps us confined to a bed or hospital, that doesn't have a cure or medicine that has horrible side affects. I am grateful that in general they are healthy and growing. So I have told myself to stop being a mopey mope and I am trying to potty train Christian right now! I figured if we have to be stuck inside for a whole month we might as well. So far things are going... okay... he loves to run around naked- I have to coax him into a shirt and socks sometimes I am lucky if he will wear undies. Anyway, we are only about a week into it so I will keep you posted. Evan is trying to walk, he has been able to just take a few steps for a couple of weeks but he seems to be getting more and more courageous and I think he officially said his first word and of course it is "Dad." It's cute because he says Dad and then a little bit of "th"sound at the end. He is starting to sign a couple more signs and loves baby signing time. Well that's pretty much it right now, but I will try to post more often. I love it when others post a lot so I should to right?


Dan put Christian under his sweatshirt because Christian was cold because... he was running around naked. Dan took him into the bathroom and said look we are a monster and they starting roaring. So now every time he see's Dan in that sweatshirt he says "I want to play monster Dad!"
