Funny/Anxious Moment

Okay so Christian has been having nightmares lately and so I have become a little relaxed with not answering his cries and he's noticed and has learned to take advantage. So yesterday I decided I'm not going to go in unless he really is scared and besides he never has nightmares during his nap time just during the night. ANYWAY, so yesterday I just let him do his thing after I put him down for his nap, I could hear him playing in there having a great time, but eventually things quieted down and I went to go peek on him to see if he had finally gone to sleep. Well I open the door and there is no Christian to be found. He wasn't in his bed, I checked in his closet (he loves to play in there), I checked behind the big rocker... no Christian! I was thinking "Oh my gosh! Where has my kid gone!" I started to freak a little bit because he's only 1 1/2 where the heck could he be, I know he didn't come out of his bedroom because he can't open doors yet. Then I thought to check under the crib- phew! There he was cuddled up in a little ball underneath the crib- this is his favorite spot to hide when we play hide-and-seek, I bet he hid there thinking I would come and check on him sooner and just fell asleep. I tried to take a picture but it was just to dark, bummer. Anyway, it turned into this cute funny moment, but I have to say I think I had left over anxiety the rest of the day too :)

Family Christmas Pictures

Well we finally got our tree! I guess when we were there picking it out all the trees surrounding it must have been really big because this one looked like it was a smaller tree... boy were we wrong! This thing is HUGE! It wouldn't fit in our tree stand so we had to go get a bigger one before we could set it up. Me and Dan always feel bad about buying a live tree but I just can't imagine Christmas without that real Christmas tree scent wafting about the house. Christian also had his first encounter with Santa Clause and it went surprisingly really well, me of course being the dumb pregnant lady that I am, forgot my camera so I will have to have my sister email me the pics she took of him so I can post them. But for now here are some of us in front of our massive tree. And yes I made sure you could see my belly, I think everyone should have at least a couple of pics when they are pregnant, even though you don't think so at the time, you'll be glad you did.

Pictures As Promised

Christian loved his Halloween costume- he's a doggy. Even though we couldn't coax a smile from him for pictrues :) He asked for it days afterwards and would just carry it around with him as he played.

A Crazy Life!

Okay so I realize that I haven't blogged since Octobober- holy crap! did we even have November? It felt like that month just flew by! Okay so a few updates:
Christian loved Halloween (I will post pictures, even though it is already December) we took him to our ward trunk-or-treat the day before Halloween, Dan started to take him around and he realized that just by going up to people and saying tick-or-treat he would get candy. It's magical! Anyway, then we took him home and dumped all of his spoils on the living room floor and let him have a couple pieces before he went to bed. Needless to say he is for sure my child because he LOVES anything with chocolate.
Okay, on to November. We spent Thanksgiving in Wyoming with Dan's brother and family, Greg and his family also came up. Dan and his brothers gamed their eyeballs out, we had a fantastic meal and then I promptly came down with a mild version of the 24 hour flu. There's nothing worse than feeling horrible especially when you are not home. I had a 24 ounce coke the whole day I sipped on that helped things. The baby has never had caffeine before and he was quite active for that whole day and the next.
Today is Dan's birthday, we get to be the same age for 4 months, wah-hoo. I am so excited for Christmas, it's funny I've always enjoyed the holiday's, but it makes such a big difference when you've got a kid, everything is heightened. You get to see everything new again through their eyes.
On a side note, funny random things Christian has been up to. He has figured out how to take his pants off, the fact that he is skinny does help with how loose his pants hang on him even with a diaper. But the other day he figured it out, so often I find him wandering around in his shirt and diaper, that's it. It's so funny. He also knows all of letters, I know...my kids a genius! Just kidding, I really owe it to a leapfrog DVD and "Super Why" on PBS. He is also a mama's boy, this is a new development. He freaks when I leave him, so, nursery has been interesting with my calling.
As far as we can tell the baby is doing well, I'm scheduled to have another c-section in January, this is a good thing, for all of you who remember what I had to go through last time to get Christian, I am relieved to know that I don't have the possibility of having to go through all of that again. It feels like this pregnancy has flown by though, I can't believe we have another baby coming so quick! It has been interesting to try and figure out how to re-arrange Christian's room and closet to make room for another babe.
Okay well that's my life updated in a nutshell. I promise to post pics soon.

I need some advice

So I've been thinking about getting a sling for the baby because I've heard it is a life-saver when you've got a toddler you are chasing around. My sister-in-law let me read some posts from her friends that started to get me thinking... like everything out there, there are many options in slings. I am looking for a little advice from any of you who have used slings. To be honest I probably will only use the sling while the baby is fairly young... but who knows maybe I'll get addicted and keep him in it for longer. Any input on whether you have had one or know someone who has had one, please educate me! Thanks!

So cliche'

Okay so I know this is going to sound so cliche, but we were at Christian's 18 month check up when the doctor said, "Okay see you at his 2 year appointment"... WHAT!?! My baby is going to be 2! When did that happen. It really is crazy how fast he has grown up, he is so much more a little boy then a baby anymore.
At the end of September we set up a toddler bed for Christian, we weren't going to sleep him in it quite yet, we just wanted him to start getting use to it in his room and playing on it. Well Christian had other plans, he didn't want anything to do with his crib and insisted that he sleep in it that night. He did great! We haven't had very many problems which is nice. We use to crack his door open at night and once Christian discovered this we would here the door open at 3:30 am here him run down the hall and say "Hi Dad!" it was so hard to not laugh and want to play with him, he was so cute! So we have had to keep his door shut for the whole night so he will sleep through the night and not come visit us. Other than that things have been fantastic.

He has also figured out how to crawl up on our kitchen chairs and he now knows he can move them around the kitchen to get up to things he wants in the kitchen, it's a whole new game of baby proofing! But so fun with all his new discoveries. I love being a mom!
Hope all of you are doing well :)

Computers

About a month ago our computer wouldn't turn on, between getting it to the shop, finding out what was wrong with it, finding out we could fix for cheaper ourselves, ordering the parts and actually fixing the computer took about a month... I never realized what a computer junkie (blogging junkie) I was until I was without one for a whole month. So everyone sing praises I have a computer again!

FYI Phone Update

Hi Everyone,

Me and Dan have just downgraded to one cell phone to help save on money, plus Dan is at a desk all day now so he has access to a phone and doesn't really need a cell phone while at work.

So.... we will be using Dan's number which I don't really feel comfortable posting on the blog so if you don't have Dan's number send me an email and I write you back.

You will be able to reach me and Dan at this number and I will have it during the days :)

Fun Camping

A couple weeks ago we finally got to go camping, we have been trying to do this for a while! We went to Teeney Flats which is just up Santaquin canyon and it's gorgeous and covered in pines. The camping ground is well taken care or and has bathrooms which is very important to a pregnant lady :) Here are some pictures of our trip, Christian loved it!

Fun Things About Christian

Christian is so funny, he will just start doing something one day and you'll think, how the heck did you learn to do that. He loves to wear his little blue crock shoes and one day he's playing around the house and I notice he's got his shoes on and I don't remember putting them on. I take them back off and two seconds later I turn around and he's go them back on again! So I take them off again and watch and he has figured out how to balance using the couch, wall, etc as he slips his shoes on. He is now obsessed with putting everybody shoes on and off, it's fantastic. Little smarty pants!

My Geeky And So Loveable Husband

Well for most of you who know Dan well know that he is an avid gamer! He gets his love for gaming from his brothers, a lot of his childhood memories has to do with his brothers and him going to the 711 to play games or spending hours playing final fantasty with Nirvana on. It's almost like gaming is addictive sentiment, if you know what I mean.

Well just of late, his brother Greg has introduced him to Starcraft so they can geek-out together online, the only problem Dan has run into is that he needs head phones to hear the game, but he also needs his phone to be able to talk to Greg and whoever else he's playing with. So one night he decides that he will attach his phone to his head phones with a bunch of string. It actually worked for awhile but gravity eventually got the best of him. He was a good sport and let me take a picture of his geekyness :)

The Football Team Grows!

Well we just had our ultrasound today. And it looks like we will be adding another healthy baby BOY to our brood. We are excited, of course either way we would be. I'm mostly relieved to know that the baby is doing well and developing and growing the way he should. We are pretty set on naming him Evan Andrew Duckwitz. Anyway, just wanted to share the exciting news :)

An Ode To Ashlyn

This section is an ode to Christian's cousin Ashlyn, Erika wrote a while back about how Ashlyn loves to get into things (baskets, boxes, etc) well Christian is following suit here are some pictures of him. What a goof ball!

Long Time... No Blog

Okay to all you faithful blog readers, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to blogging. I've been sick and tired, so that takes the #1 spot these days.
For all who were wondering we are expecting only 1 baby (yes for a minute we thought we were having twins!) But we had an ultrasound on Tuesday and it confirmed one little baby, only an inch and a half long. It always seems to be so much more real once you have an ultrasound.
Now to update you on what's been going. We had a great 4th of July. We had our annual rocket shoot off in the morning and Christian did not like being up close and personal with the rockets (too loud) but he seemed to enjoy himself from a ways back. Also we had a family bbq where it was nice to touch base with all the cousins and their wives and husbands. We had a slip and slide outside for all the kids but Christian slept through the whole thing! So when he woke up we got him into his swimsuit and turned on a sprinkler for him to play with.

Christian Loves To Feed Himself!

We are officially at the point where Christian wants to feed himself. In fact not only does he love to feed himself but he wants to feed the person who gave him the food, he thinks that's pretty great. So every day when it's time to eat, you better believe that I'm being fed by Christian something that's on his tray. He's just completely adorable right now, he has become very brave and is starting to walk around the house all by himself. I'll post some videos soon.

Poor little Christian was super sick that whole week with a high fever and throw ups. He was not getting any better and the doctors were monitoring him with me over the phone. But come day five he still was having throw ups and fever so they admitted him to the hopsital for an IV and some blood tests to find out if there was something more serious happening in his little body.
It was so sad when we got to the hospital because we thought Christian would struggle and scream when they tried to put the IV in, but all he did was lay there and moan. It was devastating feeling like you could not do anything to help him.
Wihtin the first hour of being there they put in a IV took a whole bunch of blood, gave him a Tylenol sappository, and they tried a catheter because they wanted a Urin sample, but he was so dehydrated they couldn't get anything out. Thankfull, slowly, but surely the IV helped give him the strength to fight off the virus (that was the consesus, all the testing came back negative so it was just a very bad gastro virus). We were there for 2 days and 2 nights and hope not to repeat it EVER again!
This sad is cute and sad. When Christian was sick he just wanted to sit in your lap, he especially loved laying his head in Dan's hands.

Graduation

Well, we have had a crazy, crazy last couple of weeks. First, Dan graduated YEAH!!!! We are all very excited. I was so proud of him watching him on stage, it's nice to know we are finished with school and moving on with the next chapters of our lifes.

My Birthday came in the midst of graduation and Christian being sick. That's right people, I'm 27! I know, I know, everyone says that's not old. But when you still feel 18, and in my mind my two older sisters are 25 and 27, it's a little mind blowing when you turn 27.

Christian's 1st Birthday

+

Okay, well we made it through. We feel like accomplished parents because we have been able to keep our kid alive for one whole year, he's a little skinny (we are working on that) but he's a live and kicking! We had a great birthday, you can tell Christian is tired, and not quite sure about this birthday business. But since then, we have given him left over cupcakes and he has decided that he approves.
