Christian's Movie

Christian LOVES watching youtube videos of people he knows and I (Dan) figured he would like one of his own. Also, this was the first movie I've made since high school, so it was good to break me in.

The Tree!

For those of you who didn't know, Dan did the show "The Scarlet Pimpernel" at the Hale Center Theater recently. There was a guy, Kyle, who he performed with who had a fake tree he wanted to get rid of. Now, me and Dan LOVE having a real tree but for many reasons this year we didn't think it was going to happen, so we lucked out when we offered Kyle $50 bucks for the tree and he said "how about $10" we really lucked out. It was fun too because when he brought it over it was late at night so the boys were already in bed. We set it up but didn't decorate it. The next morning Christian walked out of his bedroom and we heard " (audible gasp) It's our CHRISTMAS TREE!!!!!" It made us so very happy, great big thanks to Kyle for helping make such a fun magical moment.

On a side not, only the top half of the tree is decorated now, unlike this picture, because neither of them will leave it alone!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

This is what our Thanksgiving looked like this year:

The bird. We brined this baby and it was sooo tender!

The wild Turkeys out on Thanksgiving morning celebrating- there were tons of them

Wouldn't be a Duckwitz gathering without a couple of guitars and jam sessions

The adults braved the cold to take the little ones out on the 4 wheeler

Thanksgiving preparations in the cabin kitchen, I love this kitchen.

Just hanging out playing games

Kids playing in the loft

Evan's interpretation of a marshmallow, isn't he cute :)

And of course young Duckwitz grandchildren giving a little concert. They made up these songs on their own, they keep on talking about starting their own band. I think it's awesome they are so creative.

A Conversation with Christian

Right before bed today, Christian and I were watching Justice League (he's really big into super heroes right now, another post, I promise) and Christian turned and said to me:
Christian: Mom I don't like bad girls
Me: How come?
Christian: Because they are mean and they suck the blood out of your neck!
Me: (long speechless pause)... yep bud, they do.

Here's hoping that he still doesn't like bad girls when he's older ;)

I'm not worried that his favorite color is Pink

In love with Fall

It finally quit being so raining and cold yesterday and we ventured out to rake up our leave. I kid you not, there was about a foot of leaves that had fallen on the lawn and, *sigh*, quite a few more to come. But I tried to make the best of it with the kids and we had a good time. Evan was not to sure about playing in the leaves but he eventually warmed up to it. Christian dived in head first. He kept wanting me to cover he completely even his face. When I would he would giggle and say "It's so dark in here Mom!" We found many a leaf in his clothes later on that day.

Christian hiding in the leaves

Surprise!

Evan getting in on the action

Christian has a cute little rake my parents gave to him, he was actually very helpful

Happy Halloween

We had a great Halloween lots of friends, cousins, and candy!!!

The whole fam- and if you are wondering, yes Roman's did wear sneakers :)

Evan was a Blue Crayon, it's a little hard to read with the black on blue, but isn't he super cute! When we went trick or treating he walked, I should say ran, the entire time. He had a great time.

Christian was a doggy, my visiting teacher let me borrow this cute costume she made and it was perfect. At preschool they have been talking about Halloween and trick or treating a lot so he was really excited this year. He kept on hollering trick or treat and Happy Halloween. And if he wasn't at the front of the bunch at the door step he would say "Get out of my way!" ... we are still working on trick or treating manners :)

We went to pumpkin land with some of the girls in our play group.... I love the girls/mommies of play group so much! Can't get enough of them. Of course I didn't get any pictures of them, just their cute little kiddlets.

Little Thief

Christian came into the kitchen the other morning and said very nonchalantly "I don't know where the camera is Mom"- We laughed so hard and took a picture.

On a random note, look at how cute this spider hat is that Christian made in preschool. We are loving preschool Miss Cathy is great!

The last few days of warm weather

We have been trying to use up the last bits of warm weather. The boys really love their play set. I thought it was so cute how much they would giggle when they got an "under dog." :)

A Little Ham

Evan is silly, hope you enjoy!

Helping Daddy

What a patient, good Daddy we have at our house. There is a ritual at our house, every time Dan mows the lawn the boys HAVE to watch... all of it. They sit on the front porch while he mows the front lawn and yell and wave at him from the back deck as he mows the back lawn. Well this last time the boys ventured out and Dan being the awesome Dad he is didn't mind a bit. At first they were just following him around like a bunch of baby ducks saying "Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, etc." But Dan finally let them both have a turn learning how to mow the lawn, of course they were in Boy Heaven! In most of the pics you can't see how big their smiles are because of the bars in the way, but believe me these smiles were so big you would think we were in Disneyland. I love these boys.

Christian's First Trip to the Dentist

It feels like ever since Christian started preschool that he is growing up fast! He seems to be more mature and handles somewhat scary situations a lot better than he use to. I have found that if I begin to prep him a few days before we usually come out of it golden. The dentist was no exception. This is because of two things, I think. One we had a super awesome hygienist who was very good at speaking at Christian's level, and she aloud him to ask "what this?" a million times, always told him what she was about to do before she did it, let him touch the instruments- she was awesome! The second thing is, I scheduled our appointments together so I would always go first in everything, so she took x-rays of me and then take x-rays of him. I couldn't of hoped for a better out come.

Mohawks and First days of school

Well I can't believe that I have a kid old enough to go to preschool! About a month ago I was telling Christian about preschool and he got really sad and said "Mom you leave me?" I was shocked that that would even bother him since we have been going to nursery for forever. After a lot of "getting pumped for preschool" talks, a preschool preview day and a new hair cut and new back pack, (see below) the first day arrived. We drove to preschool, he seemed pretty excited but I thought for sure he would be sad when the time for the two of us to separate. We walk in and I bend down to give him a hug to realize he's already walked in saying "See ya later Mom!" I should have been happy that everything worked out all well, guess I forgot to prep myself emotionally because I was a little sad, ha! But we love preschool, Christian is learning a lot and loves his teacher and me and Evan get to have some time together just the two of us.

Christian's teacher does Creative Thinking pages where she asked the kids some questions about what they have learned and writes down their answers. Here's a fun one they did on the sense of smell.

-What do you think smells good? muffins
-What do you think smells bad? potatoes (very funny answer because Christian really, really, really hates potatoes!)
-Whom smells the best in your family? pancakes (I made pancakes for breakfast that morning)
-Who doesn't smell so good in your family? Evan (ha, ha!)
-What does mom cook that smells so delicious? pancakes (apparently I make a mean pancake)

I am a pansy and I do not cut my boys hair because I am scared to- Dan cuts the boys hair. And he decided to emphasize the two cowlicks on the back of his head. What do you think? Kind of fun, I think :)
